Fostering AGENCY of self, COMMUNITY
with others, and
EMPATHY toward all.

Hub & Spoke is a non-profit organization that fosters a philosophy - The Hub - that’s oriented around the tenets of Agency, Community, and Empathy (or ACE for short).  Because a philosophy alone does not necessitate a tangible, positive change, the ultimate purpose behind The Hub is to establish and operate Spokes, which are groups/organizations/platforms that serve as the outward expressions of The Hub’s philosophy.

The Hub

Agency. Community. Empathy.

Agency: Regardless of our individual circumstances, we all have the ability to work, behave, and move in ways that can produce a desired outcome, make a positive impact, and ultimately affect change.  It is through embracing our agency that we can begin to become the best versions of ourselves.

Community: Humans are inherently social and thrive within tribes.  Though agency is essential to our growth as individuals, we are stronger and more prepared for life’s inevitable challenges when we have the bedrock of a solid community network.  Simply put, we’re better together.

Empathy: Developing and fostering community is an essential component of attaining success in life, but the goal is to develop a tribe without becoming tribal.  Empathy - the ability to understand and share the feelings of others - opens us to evolve, grow, and expand our tribe by working for the common good, not just our immediate circle(s).

“In Africa, there is the concept known as “Ubuntu” - the profound sense that we are human only through the humanity of others; that if we are to accomplish anything in this world, it will in equal measure be due to the work and achievement of others.”
